Check before wiring
- Dn labels are not GPIO numbers (D1 = GPIO5, D2 = GPIO4, etc.); mixing them up is the most common wiring error.
- GPIO0/2/15 boot-strap levels must be respected at reset.
- Board is too wide for one-row clearance on standard breadboards; use two boards or jumpers.

- ESP-12E (ESP8266) module on the standard 30-pin NodeMCU/Amica board; D-labels map to fixed GPIO per the Arduino nodemcu core.
- GPIO is 3.3 V only and is not 5 V tolerant. A0 (TOUT) reads 0-3.3 V via the onboard divider (chip ADC is 0-1.0 V).
- Strapping/boot pins: D3 (GPIO0) and D4 (GPIO2) must be HIGH at boot; D8 (GPIO15) must be LOW at boot. SD0-SD3/CLK/CMD connect to the on-module flash — do not use.
- Left header positions 1-15 (A0 at top), right header positions 16-30 (D0 at top).
