Check before wiring
- GPIO8 and GPIO9 are strapping pins; their level at reset selects boot mode. Hold them at the wrong level and the board will not boot normally.
- Revision risk: v1.1 replaced the previous board's single addressable RGB LED (GPIO8 only) with a discrete-input RGB LED spanning GPIO0, GPIO1, and GPIO8. Code and wiring written for the older board will not drive the LED correctly, and GPIO0/GPIO1 are no longer fully free.
- GPIO4-GPIO7 double as the JTAG pins MTMS/MTDI/MTCK/MTDO and the FSPI bus — avoid driving them externally during debug or flashing.
- GPIO19/GPIO20 are the default UART0 console and flashing pins.
- ESP32-C2 modules ship in 1 MB, 2 MB, and 4 MB flash variants; check the module label rather than assuming capacity.

- Scoped to hardware revision v1.1.
- GPIO8 and GPIO9 are strapping pins.
- On v1.1 the addressable RGB LED of the previous board was replaced by an RGB LED with discrete inputs, driven by GPIO0 (red), GPIO1 (green), and GPIO8 (blue). The earlier version drove a single addressable LED from GPIO8 alone.
- GPIO4-GPIO7 double as the JTAG pins MTMS/MTDI/MTCK/MTDO.

Why it matters
- Espressif's lowest-cost RISC-V dev kit with a fully published header table.
- Nine of the 30 header positions are ground, giving unusually good return paths for a board this size.
- Discrete-input RGB LED on GPIO0/GPIO1/GPIO8 makes three-channel status output available without addressable-LED timing code.
